Pope Francis meets with Dominican President

Pope Francis received in audience the President of the Republic of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona in the Vatican on Monday.
After the audience, Mr. Abinader Corona met with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
Good relations between the Holy See and the Dominican Republic
A brief statement released by the Holy See Press Office said the discussions at the Secretariat of State were “cordial”, and noted that appreciation was expressed “for the good bilateral relations” that will be further strengthened .
“The parties focused on the valuable contribution offered to the country by the Church, especially in the educational field, as well as in the domain of charity,” said the statement, adding that the conversation then turned to various themes of reciprocal interest, such as migration and the regional situation, “renewing the mutual commitment to promote the common good of the Dominican population.”
