“We ask for an international inquiry into the massacre that took place in Alindao,” Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, has said. The Archbishop of Bangui, visited Alindao, a town in the south-eastern region of CAR. The Cardinal’s visit was prompted by the 15 November Alindao massacre of over 60 persons, most of them Internally Displaced persons who sought shelter at a camp adjacent to the Catholic Cathedral of Alindao.

Among those killed were two priests

Ex Seleka rebels of the UPS (Unité pour la Paix en Centrafrique) under the command of General Ali Darassa launched the brutal attack on the defenceless people looting and burning the camp and the Cathedral. Among those killed were two priests, the Vicar General, Monsignor Blaise Mada, and Fr. Celestine Ngoumbango, the parish priest of Mingala.

Cardinal Nzapalainga’s appeal to the international community is for an internationally-led inquiry and for it to assume its responsibilities regarding events in Central Africa so that the UN Peace Keeping troops, MINUSCA, can adequately and effectively protect the people.
