Pope welcomes the Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Pope Francis on Monday welcomed the head of Bosnia and Herzegovina's executive leadership, Borjana Kri?to, to the Vatican. Ms. Kri?to is chair of her country's Council of Ministers, and a former president.
After their private meeting, Ms. Kri?to met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, together with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
During the cordial discussions at the Secretariat of State, both noted the good relations between their two countries, as well as the contribution of the local Church to society. Another topic were questions regarding the situation of the Catholic community and Church-State relations.
The dialogue then focused on the situation in the country, with emphasis given to efforts assuring the legal and social equality of all citizens, as well as the importance of inclusive dialogue in political life for the common good of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In conclusion, discussions took place regarding enlargement of the European Union, highlighting with satisfaction the decision last December 2022 to grant the status of EU candidate country to Bosnia and Herzegovina
