Pope meets editors of ten Jesuit magazines
By Pope staff reporter
Pope Francis met ten Jesuit magazine editors in the Vatican on Thursday morning.
These were the European cultural magazines of the Society of Jesus: Stimmen der Zeit (Germany), Choisir (Switzerland), Signum (Sweden), Razón y fe (Spain), Brotéria (Portugal), Deon (Poland), A Szív (Hungary) , Viera in ?ivot (Slovakia), Thinking Faith (UK) and La Civiltà Cattolica (Italy).
Three editors are lay people, including two women (for the Swiss and English magazines). The others are Jesuits. The Father General of the Society of Jesus, Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, S.J., also attended the audience.
Their conversation lasted over an hour long and was conducted in the "usual fraternal and direct style", wrote Father Antonio Spadaro, SJ, director of La Civiltà Cattolica, in a tweet.
There was no speech, but a simple and informal dialogue, with questions and answers focused on the war in Ukraine and the difficult situation the world is experiencing at this time, as well as on the life of the Church, the current synodal journey, and the mission of Jesuit magazines.
The directors are in Rome for a three-day meeting, and a report of the interview will be published soon by La Civiltà Cattolica and by the magazines of the other countries.
